Grand Slam of Darts 2021 - Boyle SPorts 2020 WInner Joes de Sousa

Grand Slam of Darts 2021

Defending Grand Slam of Darts Jose de Soura will be happy this year's event can be played in front of fans. Jose claimed his first PDC ranking event title in 2020 by winning the BoyleSports Grand Slam of darts by beating James Wade in the final 16-12.

This event could be called the Champion of Champions, as all have to have earned their place to be in this event. There are no easy rounds; hence the round-robin first round. Eight groups of four players with the top two progressing to the straight knockout phase in round two. Again this year, two women will be part of the contingency. However, the two had been selected from the BDO system in previous years, which has now gone with the World Darts Federation (WDF) picking up most of the major events.  This year two ladies will have to qualify to feature in the Grand Slam of Darts via the PDC mini Women's Series Order of Merit 1-6 Winner and 7-12 Winner.

Fallon Sherrock, who has made headlines in the press for winning on the PDC darts circuit, will be one of the many women trying to book a place at the Grand  Slam of Darts. After winning her two-year tour card last year, Lias Ashton, who is a regular on the PDC circuit, will also be taking part along with former ten-time women's BDO World Darts Champion Trina Gulliver MBE.

Following Fallon's winning ways, many fans might just put a small bet on the ladies progressing in the Grand Slam. The odds may well be favourable, and the fans that put a small wager on her winning at the Alexandra Palace in 2020 all went home a little richer. Have a bet on darts and view some of the specials the bookies have, as there may well be one or two too good to resist!

Gerwyn Price

Current PDC world Darts Champion Gerwyn Price will of course, be a top favourite for this event. Price won the event in 2018 and again in 2019, and he will be eager to join the tree or more times winners club along with Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor.

Michael van Gerwyn

Having won this event three times in the past, Michael has had a dry spell without a title unit he won the Nordic Darts Masters in September 2021. Maybe this will propel him for more titles in 2021

James Wade

Three times a runner-up by never a winner. Losing to Scott Waits in 2010, Michael van Gerwen in 2016 and last year to Jose de Sousa, he is due a big title soon. Maybe the Grand Slam of darts trophy could have his name on this year?
