PDC Darts Calendar - Events Key
Qualifying School (Q-School)
PDC events, a player must hold a PDC TOUR CARD to be eligible to play in these events. A Tour Card is issued to a select number of players, a total of 128, which enables them to participate in all Players Championships and European Tour Qualifiers. Most Tour Cards are valid for two years.
After a player has held a tour card for two years, they must be in the top 64 players by the main PDC Order of Merit* to keep the card. If they are not, they lose the card and must attend the competitive Qualifying School (Q-School) to obtain another. If a player is within the top 64, they retain the card for a further year until they fall below the top 64 or retire from play at the end of the season.
At the end of the darts season, the cards become available for Q-School players to win. Two such schools run simultaneously. A UK-based event and a European event. A player must be 16 or older to attend and pay the entrance fee, including the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) Fee. Each year, approximately 32 Tour cards are available to win.
Players from the UK, Republic of Ireland and Gibraltar will compete in the UK Qualifying School, with players from all other European nations competing in the European Qualifying School. Players from other nations may choose which Qualifying School to compete with.
Entries can be made online via the PDC.tv / PDC-Europe.tv websites. Please visit their websites for information, entrance fees, and further details.
* PDC Main Order of Merit
The PDC Order of Merit is made up of a two-year rolling prize money achieved via ranking events. The Premier League and World Series are not ranked and deemed exhibition events and do not count towards a player's two-year prize money they may win at such events.
Main Events
PDC Main event. Players are eligible to play either by their Order of merit ranking or via a knockout Qualification event. These events are ranked, and prize money won contributes to the main Order of merit ranking except for the Premier League.
If a Player has received prize money from these events two years prior, the money earned at the Event is removed after the current Event has been played. Hence, the two-year rolling ranking system.
Players Championship
Players with a current Tour card can play in the player's championship events. Currently, there are 24 separate events, and any prize money earned contributes towards the main Order of Merits and a Players Championship Order of Merit (Season). The top 64 from the Players Championship Order of Merit can play in the Players Championship knockout final. Players are ranked in the final based on their ranking in the Players Championship, not the main Order of Merit table.
Challenge Tour
Challenge Tour events are only for players who played at Q-School and did not win a Tour Card (If you did not play at Q-School you are ineligible to play in these events). Players are classed as an Associate PDPA Member.
The format is best of nine legs throughout. These events have an open draw and no seeded players.
Prize money is given to the top 64 of each Event, contributing to the Challenge Tour Order of Merit. The leading two players from each season earn a two-year Tour Card.
Development Tour
The PDC Development Tour allows ANY player aged 16-23 to compete in a series of events throughout the year.
Tournaments are played with two per day across weekends, with six weekends seeing 24 events taking place throughout the season.
Each Event is worth £10,000 in prize money (as of 2024), with the leading two players from the Development Tour Order of Merit winning a PDC Tour Card, with qualification for the PDC World Youth Championship also based on prize money won in Development Tour events.
Women's Series
Events are open to all female players aged over 16 years. The PDC Women's Series features 24 events played across six weekends, with each tournament offering £10,000 (as of 2024) in prize money.
The top two players from the final Women's Order of Merit will qualify for the World Darts Championship, and the top player qualifies for the Grand Slam of Darts.
The top eight players following Event 12 will qualify for the Women's World Matchplay.
European Tour Events
As per 2024, the qualifying format from previous years, the top 16 players from the PDC Order of Merit will now qualify by right for each Event.
They will be joined by the top 16 non-qualified players from the ProTour Order of Merit at the entry deadline.
The final 16 players will be determined as follows:
- Ten players from the PDC Tour Card Holder Qualifier
- Four players from the Host Nation Qualifier
- One Nordic & Baltic Qualifier
- One East Europe Qualifier
Each Event will see the top 16 players from the ProTour Order of Merit seeded for the draw, entering the second round, with the remaining 32 players drawn randomly in the first round.
Invited players who are exempted from the last 32 who lose in their first match of the Event shall not be credited with prize money on the Order of Merit, ProTour Order of Merit or European Tour Order of Merit. However, they shall still receive full prize money payment.
The World Series of Darts
The World Series of Darts are a series of dart events designed to showcase darts in various countries across the globe. The event number varies yearly and pits top-racked PDC players against local qualifiers in a straight knockout contest. The events are non-ranking; however, the top players are invited to compete in a series final toward the end of each year.
